Install Session Replay

Install Session Replay to record user interactions and investigate the behavior behind your analytics events. Standard analytics instrumentation alone doesn't capture replays.

Start with your platform's Unified SDK to install Analytics and Session Replay together with shared configuration. Use the installation and replay configuration links below, then complete setup to verify a recording.

Plan your implementation

Before production capture, decide how to manage consent and mask sensitive content. Your SDK guide covers the privacy controls that apply to your platform.

Choose your platform, follow its installation and initialization instructions, then configure Session Replay capture:

For Flutter, follow the Flutter Session Replay standalone SDK guide.

Add replay to an existing integration

Use a plugin when you want to keep your existing Amplitude Analytics SDK installation. Use a standalone SDK when you use another analytics provider.

Browser alternatives

Mobile alternatives

If you use Segment's Amplitude (Actions) destination for React Native, follow the React Native Segment integration.

Third-party integrations

Complete setup

After installing your SDK or integration:

  1. Configure privacy settings and the platform-specific masking controls in your SDK guide.
  2. Choose a session matching option to connect replays with analytics events. Default Amplitude sessions match automatically. For event-property session definitions, configure custom session matching. For pipelines without session IDs, configure time-based matching.
  3. Set a sample rate. Use targeted capture if you need conditional capture.
  4. Verify capture with a test session before production rollout.

Self-hosting is optional when you need to serve browser scripts or proxy requests through your own domain.
